Jaime Malet
(Barcelona, 1964) – Chairman of AmChamSpain and CEO of TELAM
More than 30 years of experience leading global investment projects, advising cross-border organizations, contributing to public diplomacy and strengthening civil society institutions.
Mr. Malet is the CEO and co-founder of TELAM (www.telampartners.com) a cross-border, strategy advisory firm composed of engineers, economists and lawyers, specialized in the promotion, financing, M&A and management of large technology, infrastructure and energy projects.
Since 2002, Mr. Malet is also the Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Spain (AmChamSpain– www.amchamspain.com ). Founded more than 100 years ago (1917) and part of the worldwide network of AmChams, AmChamSpain represents around 280 Spanish and American multinational corporations, which have a combined turnover in Spain of around €245 billion (based on 2016 figures). Mr. Malet has led the institutional strengthening of the entity, steering it towards the defense of a more competitive and internationalized model of the Spanish economy.
Mr. Malet has served as senior advisor or as a member of the executive team at major companies such as NextEra Energy – Europe 2009-2017; Cisco Systems – Latin America 2011-2014; Alvarez & Marsal – Spain and Portugal 2010-2014 with a specific emphasis on the creation of Sareb; Sacyr – 2005-2010 for the creation of the Grupo Unidos por el Canal consortium and advising on obtaining the contract for the Panama Canal expansion - Third Set of Locks; Tyco Electronics – Spain 2011-2014; Betfair – Spain 2007-2014; Air Products – Europe 2012-2014; Itinere – US 2006-2010; T-Systems – Spain 2002-2008; Indra Systems – 2014- 2021; etc. As an investor, he has supported numerous startups in the field of disruptive technologies.
Mr. Malet is currently Chairman of Zurich Advisory Board in Spain, senior advisor of Cosentino and member of the Board of Trustees of the Prado Museum.
Mr. Malet is a member of the World Economic Forum (WEF) experts network and attends Davos yearly. He is a member of the Consejo de Acción Empresarial of the CEOE (Spanish Employers Association), as well as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Fundación Consejo España-Estados Unidos (US-Spain Council), the Fundación Joan Bosca and of the Fundación Código Venezuela.
Mr. Malet holds a Law Degree (JD) from the University of Barcelona (1982-1987); a Master’s Degree (LL.M.) in International Law and Economics from the University of Houston (1987-1989); he has completed a post-grad program in tax law (AGT) at ESADE (1995-1996), and a Senior Advanced Business Program (PADE) at IESE (2001-2002).
